Pachyseris rugosa Elephant Skin is sometimes referred to as Corduroy or Phonograph. It is a leafy or dish-shaped coral that is usually brown, gray or green. This one is brown with intense green shading, especially under actinic lighting. The raised skeletal ridges across the surface make it resemble the skin of an elephant. These corals can form rather large colonies. It requires intense light and strong current. |
